The Old English sheepdog is a breed with the ability to adapt to a wide range of environments. It has a loving and friendly character. It has a high sense of loyalty, protectiveness and is highly intelligent. The sheepdog is good with children and is generally part of the family.
They have a high herding instinct and need to be taught not to herd humans. Its a good worker and is able to follow commands. They do, however tend to ignore commands if they sense weak will from the person giving the command, hence emphasis on calm, confident and consistent leadership.

This breed can do well in a variety of settings considering it’s sufficiently exercised. A goon run, a daily walk will do it a world of good. The dog should, however be able to heel beside or behind the human-this signifies you as the leader and creates a hierarchy, and instills loyalty.
